JOB OPENING:
Job Title: Underground Utility Foreman
Division: Civil/Utilities
Reports To: Utilities Foreman
Salary: $80,000 to $120,000
Position Summary
The primary focus of this position is to ensure project safety and documentation of the underground utility system. This work is related to underground electrical projects such as installation of duct bank, precast manholes, cast in place manhole and electrical vaults. Additionally, the job will also focus on operation of and working with all types of shoring as well as experience in operating heavy equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Provide direct oversight and planning for company crews and subcontractor crews for the installation of underground utilities.
- Ensure that all company and OSHA guidelines are followed and performed correctly.
- This work requires the ability to work in all outdoor environments.
- Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and maintain as-builts drawings.
- Properly document daily production, time reporting, job site safety briefings.
- Is familiar with underground utility installation methods, i.e., Electrical manholes and duct banks.
- Electrical background preferred but not required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and techniques for utility installation (BGE, Pepco)
- Ability to interpret plans and stakes.
- Ability to shoot grades.
- Basic computer skills.
- Communication skills with ability to comprehend instruction.
- Competent Person Training, OSHA training, First Aid CPR, company provided.
- Experienced equipment operator.
- Experienced with all types of shoring, Timber shoring, build a box, slide rail, quick shoring systems, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years utility installation experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. On a regular basis, you will be required to:
- Work with constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employees must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform key duties.
- Climb ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers, often with narrow steps and passageways.
- Work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools.
- Lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds individually, and up to 100 pounds with a team lift.
- Use manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, lumber and other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools.
- Demonstrate capability of operating concrete vibrators for extended periods of time.
- Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
- Walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
- Maintain or gain certification to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations using ladders or crawling, as required.
- Perform work out of doors in all weather conditions.
- Follow safety regulations in an environment which frequently exposes employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
- Follow safety regulations in an environment where employees regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel
- May be required to work overtime as needed.
